www.deliverancexorcisms.com Phone: 301-732-3451 IA Hidden Bondage Affecting Many Christians: Across deliverance ministry, one of the most common—yet least understood—forms of demonic oppression is the spiritual spouse, sometimes referred to as incubus (male demon) or succubus (female demon). These spirits attempt to form an unholy, covenant-like attachment to a person, mimicking intimacy, jealousy, and a controlling relationship. While the Bible does not use the modern term “spiritual spouse,” the behaviors and manifestations are consistent with biblical teachings on demonic seduction, unholy covenants, and spiritual defilement (2 Corinthians 11:3; Hosea 4:12; 1 Corinthians 6:15–20). Their mission is simple: To corrupt purity, block godly relationships, and hinder spiritual growth. What Are Spiritual Spouses? A spiritual spouse is a demon that claims legal rights, ownership, or marriage-like covenant rights over a person. These rights are gained through open doors—sometimes through sin, trauma, or ancestral covenants. Common Legal Rights They Use:
How Spiritual Spouses Attack Believers 1. Sexual Dreams or Night Violations: People experience unwanted sexual encounters in dreams, sleep paralysis, or sensations of being touched. These experiences are spiritual in nature, not psychological fantasy. 2. Interference in Relationships and Marriage A spiritual spouse may cause:
Some feel watched, followed, or oppressed—especially when pursuing a romantic relationship or growing spiritually. 4. Physical Manifestations: These can include:
These demons hinder:
Biblical Foundations for Understanding Spiritual Spouses: Though the term is not explicitly used, Scripture supports the principles behind these demonic attacks. 1. Demonic Seduction “But I fear… your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” —2 Corinthians 11:3 Evil spirits can seduce, deceive, and attach themselves like spiritual lovers. 2. Unholy Covenants: “A spirit of prostitution leads them astray.” —Hosea 4:12 This scripture describes a spiritual entity drawing people into unholy intimacy. 3. Sexual Sin Creates Spiritual Bonds: “He who is joined to a harlot is one body with her.” —1 Corinthians 6:16 Sexual activity—physical or imagined—creates spiritual openings. 4. Demonic Night Attacks: “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night.” —Psalm 91:5 Nighttime spiritual oppression is real and biblically recognized. Why These Spirits Gain Such Strong Attachments: Sex was created by God as a covenant act, not merely physical. Because of this, the enemy counterfeits intimacy to form demonic covenants. Where God created:
Signs You May Be Dealing With a Spiritual Spouse: Common indicators include:
How Deliverance Breaks Spiritual Spouses: Freedom requires the authority of Jesus Christ and intentional steps of renunciation. 1. Renouncing Every CovenantUngodly agreements—voiced or unvoiced—must be broken in Jesus’ name. 2. Closing Sexual DoorwaysRepentance removes the legal rights demons rely on. 3. Breaking Generational CovenantsThese spirits often enter through ancestral witchcraft or sexual sin. 4. Casting Out the Spirit“In My name they shall cast out demons.” —Mark 16:17 The command of Jesus expels them. 5. Restoring Purity and Spiritual CoveringThe Holy Spirit fills the areas once held by darkness. A Deliverance Prayer Against Spiritual SpousesFather, in the name of Jesus, I renounce every covenant, vow, pact, or spiritual marriage made knowingly or unknowingly. I break every soul tie created through sexual sin, dreams, trauma, or ancestral covenants. I cancel every legal right claimed by incubus, succubus, or any spiritual spouse. I command these spirits to leave me now in the name of Jesus Christ. I declare that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. I belong to Jesus alone, and every counterfeit relationship is broken. I receive freedom, cleansing, and restoration. In Jesus’ name—Amen. Freedom Is Possible: Spiritual spouses are real and destructive, but they are not stronger than Jesus Christ. Deliverance brings freedom, healing, and restoration to those who seek it. If you recognize these signs in your life or in others, do not remain silent. Seek a trusted deliverance minister and allow the Holy Spirit to break every unholy covenant.

www.deliverancexorcisms.com In recent months, you might have noticed children and teens repeating the numbers 6-7, as though it were some inside joke or viral challenge. What appears to be harmless fun or mindless repetition is, in fact, a subtle indicator of something far more serious. What’s the “6-7” trend all about? The shorthand “6-7” has spread across social platforms so rapidly that it has even been dubbed a “word of the year.” On the surface, kids say it “doesn’t mean anything”—it’s just something adults are excluded from. Yet, beneath that innocuous front lies a troubling origin story. The trend is widely believed to have originated from the song “Doot Doot” by rapper Skrilla. But Skrilla is not just any artist—he has openly expressed involvement in the occult. For example, he has declared, “I’m a Santo … I do Palo… all that sacrifice goats… that’s just real life.” He even admitted, “I sacrificed goats, chickens, mice… I’m not allowed to explain it.” (Charisma Magazine Online) He has also discussed the West African-derived Yoruba religion and claiming the ability to “put bad spirits” on a person. (Charisma Magazine Online) Why it matters—and why we need to care What appears playful or mysterious to younger audiences is, in fact, a subtle doorway to spiritual influence. That repetition of “6-7” is not just a harmless trend—it is a vector of demonic exposure that normalizes engagement with occult practices and spiritual forces. (Charisma Magazine Online) We live in a culture bombarded by media, digital platforms, and trends that target younger generations with messages far deeper than they appear. From a spiritual-warfare perspective, this is a stark reminder: the enemy isn’t always loud or obvious—sometimes he lurks behind two simple numbers, disguised as a game. Discernment: The Christian response As believers, we cannot afford to dismiss these trends as trivial. Our responsibility is to watch, pray, and intercede for the next generation. Here are some practical spiritual responses:
The “6-7” phenomenon is more than just a TikTok hashtag or meme—it is a spiritual dynamics at play. For those of us serving in deliverance and inner-healing ministries, it underscores the urgency of equipping the Church, especially young people, to stand firm in truth, to recognize camouflage, and to live out the authority that Jesus has given us. Let this serve as a call—to parents, youth-workers, mentors, and ministers—to engage unflinchingly in the spiritual realities of our day. Let us cover the children under our care with the blood of Jesus, equip them with the armor of God, and wage war on the unseen strongholds that operate beneath the surface of trends. Senior Pastor, The Children’s Bread Deliverance Ministry www.deliverancexorcisms.com From the beginning of creation, Satan has sought to enslave humanity through lies. In the Garden of Eden, he didn’t use force—he used deception. His first attack was not physical but spiritual, questioning the truth of God’s Word: “Did God really say…?” (Genesis 3:1). That same strategy is alive today. Every believer faces the daily choice: Will I believe the truth of God’s Word, or the lies of the devil? 1. The Battle for the Mind: The real war between good and evil happens in the mind. The enemy knows that whoever controls your thoughts controls your destiny. Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Truth brings freedom; lies bring bondage. When you believe lies like “I’m worthless,” “God has abandoned me,” or “My sin is too great,” you give the devil power over your emotions and decisions. But when you stand on God’s truth--“I am loved” (Romans 8:38–39), “I am chosen” (1 Peter 2:9), “I am forgiven” (1 John 1:9)—you break the chains of deception and step into liberty. 2. Truth Exposes Darkness: Satan’s kingdom thrives in secrecy and confusion. But the Word of God shines light on every lie. Jesus called Satan “the father of lies” (John 8:44), while declaring Himself “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). When Jesus faced Satan in the wilderness, He didn’t debate—He declared: “It is written…” (Matthew 4:4). Each time, the truth of Scripture shattered the devil’s temptation. Likewise, when you speak God’s Word with faith, you drive out darkness and silence the voice of the accuser. 3. The Truth Brings Deliverance: Deliverance begins with believing God. Satan loses power when a believer replaces lies with divine truth. If the enemy says, “You will never change,” God says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). If he says, “You’re defeated,” the Word says, “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37). If he says, “You’re alone,” the truth says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). Every lie broken by Scripture weakens Satan’s grasp, bringing you closer to the freedom Jesus purchased at the Cross. 4. Living in Daily Freedom: Freedom is not a one-time event; it’s a daily walk with the truth. Renew your mind through Scripture (Romans 12:2). Fill your heart with worship, prayer, and thanksgiving. The more you know God’s Word, the harder it becomes for the enemy to deceive you. Those who live by truth walk in spiritual authority and peace. Lies enslave, but truth liberates. Choose to walk in the light and watch the enemy lose his hold over your life. Believing the truth of the Bible over the lies of Satan is the path to true deliverance. The Word of God exposes deception, renews your mind, and restores your authority in Christ. As Jesus said, “If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Freedom is found in knowing, believing, and declaring the truth. Choose truth. Choose freedom. Choose Christ. Recently, The Times of India reported a horrifying case in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, where a 32-year-old woman was raped repeatedly under the pretext of exorcism. The perpetrator claimed to be delivering her from evil spirits but instead exploited her vulnerability for his own wicked desires. This tragic event is not just a crime—it is a perversion of what true deliverance ministry is meant to be.
Deliverance Is Not Abuse Biblical deliverance is centered on Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. Scripture makes it clear that the power to set the captives free comes only through Him:
Warning Signs of a False Deliverance Minister Sadly, cases like the one in India remind us that not everyone claiming to do deliverance is truly sent by God. Here are red flags to watch for:
What happened in Rewa is a stark reminder that the enemy often disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). The devil will use impostors to discredit the true ministry of deliverance and to harm God’s people. As ministers, we must condemn such evil acts and stand for the purity of Christ’s work. As believers, we must be wise and discerning, testing the spirits to see whether they are from God (1 John 4:1). Deliverance is real. Freedom in Christ is real. But so are the dangers of wolves who prey on the vulnerable. Stay alert, stay in the Word, and keep your eyes on Jesus—the only true Deliverer. To reach Pastor Miguel Bustillos, go to www.deliverancexorcisms.com Deliverance ministry is a powerful and essential part of the Christian walk—Jesus Himself cast out demons and gave His disciples the authority to do the same (Mark 16:17). However, not every person experiences full deliverance during their first session. This can be discouraging, but understanding the reasons why this occurs is crucial for both ministers and those seeking freedom. Here are some key biblical and spiritual insights to help explain why deliverance may not happen immediately.
1. Lack of Genuine Repentance and Renunciation of Sin: Deliverance begins with repentance. The Word of God teaches us that harboring sin gives the enemy legal grounds (Ephesians 4:27). If an individual refuses to let go of certain sins or does not fully renounce occult involvement, soul ties, or sinful behaviors, the demons may remain. James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Key Point: Submission to God is a prerequisite for resisting the devil. Without repentance and full surrender, freedom cannot be enforced. 2. Hidden or Unconfessed Legal Rights: Demons operate through legal rights. These may include:
Proverbs 26:2 – “Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.” Key Point: Identifying and removing legal rights is often a process, not a one-time event. 3. Need for Inner Healing Before Deliverance: Some individuals are deeply wounded emotionally or psychologically due to abuse, abandonment, or trauma. In such cases, deliverance cannot be forced. The Holy Spirit may prioritize healing the heart before casting out demons. Luke 4:18 – “He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted…” Key Point: A person must be strengthened and stabilized before full deliverance is possible. 4. Dissociation or Fragmented Soul: In complex cases, individuals may experience dissociation (such as alternate personalities, also known as "alters"). These fragmented parts of the soul often carry pain, fear, or are stuck in traumatic events. Deliverance cannot be complete until the soul is made whole through integration and healing. Psalm 23:3 – “He restores my soul…” Key Point: Healing dissociation is a spiritual and emotional process that takes time and patience. 5. Demonic Resistance or Strongholds: Sometimes demons simply refuse to leave easily. This may be due to:
Key Point: Deliverance can be a spiritual battle that may require fasting, persistence, and multiple sessions. 6. Lack of Discipleship and Spiritual Maturity: Some individuals come for deliverance but are not ready to maintain it. Jesus warned: Matthew 12:43–45 – “When an impure spirit comes out of a person… it returns… and the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” Deliverance without discipleship and obedience to Christ can be dangerous. It’s important the person is discipled, rooted in the Word, and connected to a church before full deliverance is completed. 7. It’s a Process, Not a One-Time Event: Deliverance is not always instant. Like peeling an onion, the Holy Spirit may bring freedom layer by layer. Each session removes something deeper. Philippians 1:6 – “…He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” Key Point: Deliverance is often progressive, not immediate. Be patient with the process. Don’t Give Up: If you or someone you minister to didn’t receive full deliverance during the first session, don’t be discouraged. God is faithful, and He desires freedom for His children. Continue the process with faith, fasting, forgiveness, and obedience. God’s timing is perfect, and He will complete the work He began. ✝️ Need Help? Deliverancexorcisms.com | The Children’s Bread Deliverance Ministry “But even if we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” — Galatians 1:8 (NKJV) Cults are spiritual traps that operate in deception, control, and fear. Though they often appear religious or even “Christian,” they lead their followers away from biblical truth and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. As a deliverance minister, I have worked with many individuals who have escaped cults—wounded, spiritually broken, and in need of healing. This article will equip you to identify cults, recognize spiritual manipulation, and walk in freedom through Christ. What Is a Cult? A cult is any group that deviates from orthodox biblical Christianity and often centers around a charismatic leader, extra-biblical revelation, or authoritarian control. Cults typically:
Real-World Example: Abdullah Hashem and Cult Leadership: One example of a modern cult leader is Abdullah Hashem, who has been accused of establishing a group that exhibits cult-like characteristics. Former members and observers have reported manipulation, authoritarian control, unbiblical teachings, and exploitation. Allegedly, he used his influence to present himself as a divine messenger or enlightened teacher, gradually gaining total control over the lives of his followers. This pattern of spiritual abuse is a hallmark of cult leadership. Important Note: The purpose of sharing this example is not to condemn individuals but to help believers recognize spiritual danger. The Bible tells us to “test the spirits” (1 John 4:1) and to beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15). Biblical Signs of a Cult:
Symptoms of Cult Involvement:
How to Break Free from a Cult 1. Recognize the Deception: Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you. John 16:13 says He will guide you into all truth. 2. Compare All Teachings to the Bible Acts 17:11 commends the Bereans who searched the Scriptures daily to test what they heard. 3. Renounce Ungodly Covenants and Soul Ties Prayer: “In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce all agreements, vows, and soul ties made with [name of group or leader]. I break every ungodly covenant and command all spirits of control, fear, and deception to leave me now in Jesus’ name.” 4. Seek Deliverance and Inner Healing Spiritual abuse leaves deep wounds. Many people need deliverance ministry to break spiritual strongholds that formed through the cult. 5. Recommit Your Life to Jesus Alone Your Savior is not a leader or a group—it is Jesus Christ alone. John 14:6 declares that He is the only way. 6. Get Connected to a Healthy Church A Bible-believing, Spirit-led church will help you heal and grow. You are not meant to walk alone. Final Thoughts: Freedom Is Possible If you have been involved in a cult—whether knowingly or unknowingly—know this: freedom is possible in Jesus Christ. No group can save you, no man can replace the authority of God's Word, and no fear has power over a child of God who walks in truth. If you need help or prayer, our ministry is here to support you. These were not just ordinary women—they were false prophetesses who operated in deception, casting spells, sewing charms on garments, and making veils for people’s heads in order to ensnare them spiritually. Their ultimate goal? To hunt souls.
“Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly...” — Ezekiel 13:20 (KJV) These “pillows” mentioned in the King James Version are likely amulets, charms, or magic bands—tools used in witchcraft. These women were attempting to manipulate the destiny of others, offering false hope to the wicked and discouraging the righteous. They traded people’s lives for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread—cheap payments for such a high cost: a human soul. Soul-Hunting: A Spiritual Crime: In the spirit realm, the soul represents a person’s identity, will, mind, and emotions. To catch or trap a soul is to bind that person spiritually, manipulating their life through curses, divination, and demonic agreements. This is not just metaphor—it is real spiritual bondage. In modern deliverance ministry, we often encounter individuals whose lives have been spiritually hijacked. They feel disconnected from God, emotionally fragmented, directionless, or controlled by invisible forces. These symptoms may be the result of soul hunting—spiritual traps set by witches, psychics, or occultists who operate much like the women in Ezekiel 13. Veils and Manipulation: “And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die...” — Ezekiel 13:19 (KJV) These women also placed veils over people’s heads—symbolic of spiritual blindness and deception. Veils in Scripture can signify covering, but when used by the enemy, they represent manipulation, confusion, and false coverings that prevent someone from seeing the truth. In deliverance, we remove these demonic veils through prayer, repentance, and the power of the Holy Spirit, so that the person can see clearly and walk in the truth of God’s Word. God Is Against the Soul-Hunters: One of the most powerful verses in this passage is Ezekiel 13:20, where the Lord says, “Behold, I am against your pillows… and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.” God is not passive about this. He actively opposes those who practice witchcraft and soul manipulation. He declares deliverance for those who have been caught—He will set the captives free. A Call to Spiritual Awareness: We live in a time where witchcraft is being glamorized. From TikTok witches to New Age influencers, many are openly promoting rituals, charms, and spells as harmless or even beneficial. But the Word of God exposes the truth: witchcraft hunts souls. Deliverance ministers must take this warning seriously. Souls are still being hunted today. But through the authority of Jesus Christ, we can break the chains, remove the veils, and cancel the assignments of darkness. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32 Ezekiel 13 is not just a warning—it is also a promise of divine intervention. God sees what witches and occultists are doing in the secret. He knows the manipulation, and He is raising up warriors in this generation who will set the captives free in Jesus’ name. If you or someone you know is experiencing spiritual bondage, don’t stay silent. Seek deliverance. The power of Jesus Christ is greater than every curse, charm, or spell. “He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.” — Psalm 107:14 By Pastor Miguel Bustillos
In today’s spiritual battlefield, one of the most dangerous fronts is the human mind. While many focus on physical oppression or overt spiritual manifestations, Satan often wages his war in a more subtle but equally destructive way—through psychological attacks. The mind is the gateway to the soul, and if the enemy can gain control over your thoughts, he can influence your emotions, decisions, and even your spiritual destiny. As believers, we are not powerless. Scripture gives us clear strategies to recognize and overcome these mental attacks. Below are practical and spiritual steps to stop the psychological warfare of Satan and reclaim your mind for Christ. 1. Recognize the Enemy’s Tactics: Satan’s strategy is ancient and calculated. Jesus called him “a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). He plants seeds of:
2. Renew Your Mind Daily with the Word: Romans 12:2 tells us to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This is not a one-time event but a daily discipline. When Satan attacks your thoughts, respond with God’s truth:
3. Take Every Thought Captive: 2 Corinthians 10:5 commands us to “take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” Not every thought that enters your mind comes from you. When you identify a thought that is fearful, accusatory, or discouraging, stop and ask:
4. Guard Your Mind Through Prayer and Praise: Philippians 4:6-7 gives us a powerful key: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Prayer invites the presence of God. Praise silences the enemy (Psalm 8:2). When you’re under attack, don’t stay silent—pray, praise, and declare God’s promises until peace returns. 5. Put on the Helmet of Salvation: The armor of God includes the helmet of salvation (Ephesians 6:17), which protects your mind. This helmet reminds you of:
6. Break Ungodly Soul Ties and Curses: Sometimes psychological torment is rooted in unbroken soul ties, generational curses, or trauma. These give the enemy legal access to harass your thoughts. In these cases, deliverance and inner healing are necessary. James 5:16 encourages us to confess and pray for one another that we may be healed. If you feel trapped in obsessive, tormenting thoughts, it may be time to seek prayer with a trained deliverance minister. 7. Stay Connected to a Faith Community: Isolation is dangerous. The enemy often isolates the mind before he devours the soul. Stay connected to believers who can pray with you, speak truth to you, and help you discern the enemy’s lies. Hebrews 10:25 reminds us to “not forsake the assembling of ourselves together… but encourage one another.” You don’t have to live in mental torment. Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly (John 10:10). The enemy attacks the mind because he knows the power of a renewed, Christ-centered believer. But through the Word, prayer, spiritual authority, and deliverance, you can walk in peace, clarity, and victory. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” — Isaiah 26:3 If you're struggling with tormenting thoughts and want prayer or deliverance, reach out to our ministry today. www.deliverancexorcisms.com In deliverance ministry, one of the most cunning and destructive spirits we confront is Asmodeus, often referred to as the demon of lust. This powerful principality works tirelessly to corrupt the soul, destroy marriages, and enslave individuals to perversion and sexual immorality. Asmodeus is not just a mythological figure or fictional character; he is a real demonic presence whose influence is evident in the growing sexual depravity and confusion in today’s world. Who is Asmodeus? The name Asmodeus appears in ancient Jewish texts, most notably in the Book of Tobit (part of the Apocrypha), where he is portrayed as a demon who kills the husbands of Sarah before they can consummate their marriage. He is traditionally associated with lust, jealousy, and vengeance—especially in romantic or sexual relationships. While not named in the canonical Bible, the spirit of lust and sexual corruption that Asmodeus embodies is addressed extensively in Scripture. Jesus warned in Matthew 5:28: "But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart." The Works of Asmodeus Asmodeus operates under the kingdom of darkness as a strongman of lust. His tactics include:
This spirit enslaves both men and women through unclean soul ties, defiling dreams, and obsessive thoughts. Often, those under Asmodeus’ influence feel deep shame and guilt, yet struggle to break free, even when they are believers. Biblical Signs of His Influence Some signs that a person may be under the influence of Asmodeus include:
The Goal of Asmodeus: Destruction Asmodeus comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). His goal is to pollute the temple of the Holy Spirit—your body—and ultimately separate you from God’s presence. He knows that if he can enslave a believer in lust, it will bring shame, spiritual stagnation, and even disqualification from ministry. Deliverance from Asmodeus Praise God, there is freedom through the blood of Jesus Christ! Steps to Break Free:
Asmodeus may be powerful, but he is no match for the name of Jesus. Freedom is not only possible—it is promised to those who seek it in Christ. If you or someone you know is struggling with lust, know that you are not alone. There is healing, restoration, and deliverance available. At The Children’s Bread Deliverance Ministry, we have helped thousands find freedom from the chains of lust, perversion, and demonic oppression. Need Help? By Pastor Miguel Bustillos, Deliverance Minister and Exorcist
www.deliverancexorcisms.com In a recent teaching, Mark Chase of Invicta Ministries (Fort Lauderdale) brought to light a troubling mindset that is creeping into the modern Church—especially among believers who dismiss the possibility of demonic influence simply because they are “born again.” This same attitude was present in John 8:33, when the Pharisees responded to Jesus’ offer of freedom by saying: “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been in bondage to anyone.” They claimed spiritual heritage, but ignored spiritual reality. Despite their long history of captivity—Egypt, Babylon, and Roman rule—they still insisted they had no bondage. Their pride blinded them to their true condition. And today, many Christians echo this same deception: “I’m saved. I’m born again. I can’t have a demon.” Spirit, Soul, and Body — Understanding the Difference It is crucial to understand the triune nature of man: 1 Thessalonians 5:23 says: “May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless…” Spirit – This is the part of us that is reborn at salvation. It is sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13) and belongs to God. Soul – This includes our mind, will, and emotions. It is not automatically renewed at salvation and must be sanctified (Romans 12:2). Body – This is the physical temple. It can be defiled and is susceptible to sickness, oppression, and even demonic attack. So when we say a Christian cannot have a demon, what we really should be saying is this: “A Christian’s spirit cannot be possessed by a demon—but their soul or body can absolutely be oppressed, afflicted, or even inhabited.” Demons do not enter the spirit of a born-again believer—they exploit the soul wounds, trauma, unforgiveness, and open doors in the mind and body. This is why so many Christians continue to suffer from depression, addictions, lust, chronic illness, confusion, torment, and more—even though they’ve accepted Christ. Pride that Says “I Cannot Be in Bondage” Just like the Pharisees, some believers declare with boldness: “I have never been in bondage. I’m a child of God.” But the fruit of their lives tells a different story. They are saved but tormented. They are anointed but angry. They worship on Sunday but secretly struggle Monday through Saturday. When they hear the message of deliverance, they often reject it—not because it’s unbiblical, but because it confronts their pride. John 8:34 – “Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.’” Being born again is the beginning of a journey—not the end of sanctification. Deliverance is not about questioning someone’s salvation; it’s about confronting what is still attached to the soul and body and has not yet been surrendered to Christ. Deliverance is for the Believer Jesus said in Mark 7:27, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” Deliverance is the children’s bread. It is for God’s people, not outsiders. The unsaved need salvation. The saved need freedom. Many of the people Jesus delivered were believers in God—but still afflicted. Likewise, the early Church cast out demons from believers (Acts 8, Acts 16). Paul warned of doctrines of demons in the Church, not just the world (1 Timothy 4:1). The Pharisee Spirit in the Church Today Mark Chase rightly pointed out that pride has become a mask for many. Rather than humble themselves and seek healing, they declare, “That could never happen to me—I’m saved.” But this was the exact heart posture that kept the Pharisees from receiving freedom from the very Messiah they were waiting for. A Christian may have the Holy Spirit in their spirit—but still have unclean spirits tormenting their mind or body. This doesn’t mean they’re not saved. It means there is unfinished work of sanctification and healing. Humility Brings Freedom Jesus said in John 8:36, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” But He cannot free someone who refuses to admit they’re bound. Deliverance is not about shame—it’s about freedom. It’s for born-again believers who want to walk in total healing across their spirit, soul, and body. Let us not make the mistake of the Pharisees. Let us walk in humility, recognize our need, and invite Jesus not just to save us—but to cleanse us completely. |
