Accept That the Pain Is There: The first step is acknowledging that something hurt you. Acceptance does not mean that what happened to you was right. It does not mean that you approve of the actions of those who wounded you. It simply means recognizing the truth: “This happened, and it affected me.” Sometimes Christians feel pressure to pretend that they are not hurting because they believe faith means never experiencing sadness, anger, grief, or emotional pain. But Scripture repeatedly shows people bringing their pain honestly before God. David cried out to the Lord: “I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.” — Psalm 142:2 God is not afraid of your emotions. You do not have to hide your pain from Him. 2. Process the Trauma: After recognizing the pain, you may need to process what happened. Ask yourself: What happened to me? How did it make me feel? What did I begin believing about myself because of what happened? Did I begin believing that I was unwanted, unlovable, worthless, unsafe, abandoned, or forgotten? Am I still carrying anger, fear, shame, guilt, bitterness, or resentment from that experience? Processing trauma does not mean continually reliving it. The goal is to understand how the experience affected you so that the wound can begin to heal. For some people, processing difficult trauma may also involve speaking with a trustworthy pastor, mature Christian counselor, therapist, or other qualified professional. Seeking appropriate help is not a lack of faith. 3. Bring the Pain to Jesus: Once you recognize the wound, bring it directly to Jesus in prayer. Jesus understands suffering. Isaiah describes Him as: “A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.” — Isaiah 53:3 You can speak openly to Jesus about what happened. Tell Him about the rejection. Tell Him about the betrayal. Tell Him about the abandonment. Tell Him about the fear. Tell Him about the memories you wish you could forget. You do not need complicated words. Simply tell Him the truth. “Jesus, this hurt me. I have carried this pain for a long time. I do not want this experience to control my life anymore.” 4. Ask Jesus to Heal the Trauma: After bringing the wound before Him, ask Jesus specifically for healing. Psalm 147:3 tells us: “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” Ask Jesus to enter the painful areas of your heart and replace the hurt with His presence. You can pray: “Lord Jesus, I give You the painful experiences of my past. I give You the memories, the rejection, the fear, the anger, and the sadness. Heal the places inside me that are still wounded. Remove the lies I believed because of what happened to me. Help me see myself through Your eyes. Restore what was broken inside my heart.” Healing may happen suddenly for some people, while for others it may be a gradual process. Do not become discouraged if certain emotions take time to work through. 5. Ask Jesus to Give You His Peace: One of the greatest things Jesus promises His followers is peace. Jesus said: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.” — John 14:27 The peace of Christ does not erase history, but it can change the power that history has over your present life. Ask Jesus to replace fear with peace. Ask Him to replace rejection with acceptance. Ask Him to replace shame with dignity. Ask Him to replace bitterness with freedom. Ask Him to replace emotional turmoil with His presence. You may still remember what happened, but the memory no longer has to produce the same level of pain. A Prayer for Inner Healing: Lord Jesus Christ, I acknowledge that there are painful places in my heart from things I have experienced in my past. I have carried some of these wounds for a long time. Today I choose to bring them before You. Jesus, I give You every painful memory, every rejection, every betrayal, every disappointment, every loss, and every traumatic experience that continues to affect me. Heal my broken heart. Heal the places inside me that still hurt. Help me process what happened without allowing the past to control my future. Expose every lie I believed about myself because of what happened. Replace those lies with Your truth. Where there is fear, give me peace. Where there is rejection, remind me that I am loved. Where there is shame, restore my dignity. Where there is anger, help me release it. Where there is grief, comfort me. Jesus, I invite You into every wounded place in my heart. Give me Your peace that passes all understanding. Help me move forward in freedom, healing, and hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Your Past Does Not Have to Control Your Future: You cannot change what happened yesterday, but through Christ, yesterday does not have to determine tomorrow. Healing begins with honesty. Recognize the pain. Process what happened. Bring the wound to Jesus. Ask Him to heal your heart. And allow His peace to begin replacing the pain of the past. Jesus is still able to heal broken hearts.

Acknowledging the Pain: The Bible acknowledges the reality of rejection and its profound impact on individuals. In Psalm 27:10, David cries out, "Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me." These words echo the anguish of feeling abandoned and unloved, yet they also affirm the comforting presence of God as the ultimate source of acceptance and belonging. 2.
